Dear Friends,
Christmas 2011 was a special time for us as we spent it with our family whom we don't see very often. It was wonderful to be back in California as well, the birth place of Human Nature. It was here, where Camille and I, inspired by the sustainable living movement and enabling environment, started dreaming about having our own Philippine made all natural products that could help our families and help farming communities to become more productive as well. Just a little over 3 years later, our dream has grown into a world-class company built by talented Filipinos committed to showcasing the best of the Philippines. We start the year full of hope and excitement as we introduce more new products, engage more partners and hopefully inspire other businesses to build a beautiful society together.

Dangerous Chemical 101: Salicylic Acid
Exfoliating. Ah yes, your skin's second chance to shine brightly and look healthy, vibrant and radiant. But while you're busy scuffing off the dead skin cells, did you ever think about what's actually going onto your skin?
One of the most common ingredients found in most facial scrubs is salicylic acid. It's a chemical ingredient that's designed to fight acne and is also used as an exfoliant. And while this ingredient is common, it has many harmful effects that we all should look out for. According to cosmeticsdatabase.com, salicylic acid may have harmful effects to your brain, nervous and reproductive systems and can act as a skin irritant and penetration enhancer allowing other harmful chemicals to penetrate deeper into the skin. Can you imagine? Chemicals going more than just skin deep! Not good at all! Because of this, its use is restricted in Canadian and Japanese cosmetics... and of course, Human Nature products.

Eco-Lifestyle: DIY Hairspray
Thinking of cutting back on the chemicals you use on your hair this new year or simply just cutting back? Whatever the case may be, we're going to teach you how to make your own hairspray right in your own kitchen!
What you'll need:

| Water |
| 1. | Pour in 1/2 cup of water in pot and wait for it to boil. |
| 2. | Put in 3 tsps of sugar and stir until it's completely dissolved. |
| 3. | Pour liquid into empty spray bottle. |
TIP: Since this isn't regular hairspray, you're going to want to spray it on your hair in layers. Spray on one thin layer at a time, let it dry, spray on a second layer, let it dry, so on and so forth.
This hairspray should be stored in the refrigerator and will only last for about a week , after which, you'll have to make a new one. To extend the shelf life to 2 weeks, add a tablespoon of vodka to the mixture.
